Hannas have been engaged to provide civil, mechanical and associated pipework to enter the existing water pipeline upstream of the Water Filtration Plant and install a turbine generator.  This installation will capture the energy currently lost in the existing water flow and renewable energy is generated from the hydroelectric plant constructed.  Pipes convey flowing water to the turbine generator, which is coupled to an alternator.  The alternator converts the rotational energy of the turbine into electrical energy.

The construction includes an in-ground Turbine House with hydroelectric plant installed and hydroelectric turbine

The hydroelectric unit consists of a Kaplan turbine directly coupled to an electric generator to produce electricity at 11kV and 50Hz. The capacity of the plant is 3.7MW.
