34a Francis Street is founded on sand. There is a deep excavation to the next door property and a steep slope to road at the front of the house, which has caused the building to shift on it foundations. Limited access meant that there was no room to bring in mechanised equipment. So GFWAust was asked to perform permeation grouting the stabilise the northern and eastern boundaries and enable excavation at the rear of the building to form a new terrace.

GFWAust worked with Mainmark Civil to complete the works. On completion of the permeation grouting DCP testing was carried out to prove the ground treatment.

To enable a 3m deep excavation for the terrace at the rear of the building chemical anchors were installed along the excavated berm.
